The art competition was organized by Nansen Dialogue Centre Serbia http://www.nansen-dialogue.net/ndcserbia/.
It was launched on September 21st 2011, the International Day of Peace, on the occasion of celebration the 150th anniversary of the birth of Fridtjof Nansen, the Norwegian Nobel Peace Prize laureate. Many students of primary and secondary schools from the region participated in this art contest.
The competition was supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade, Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Education and Sports of Montenegro, and the Global Partnership for the Prevention of Armed Conflict (GPPAC). After the closing of the competition, the jury selected 12 winning artworks which illustrated the 2012 Nansen Peace Calendar.
Promotion of the Nansen Peace Calendar for 2012 and Only One Life film screening took place at the Cultural Centre Rex on Friday, December 16th, 2011. Nansen Dialogue Centre Serbia was organizing this cultural event as a part of the celebration of the Nansen Year in Serbia which is also supported by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade.
As the 12 winning artworks illustrate the Nansen Peace Calendar for 2012, Nansen Dialogue Centre Serbia and Cultural Centre Rex are organizing an exhibition of the broader selection of received artworks in order to illustrate creativity and motivation of the participants of the competition.
