Over the past ten years, Norway has been engaged in supporting Serbia through the processes of democratisation and consolidation. In all, Norway has provided around 230 million Euros in assistance to Serbia.
Through a number of different programs, Norway has provided assistance both to the state and to civil society organisations, or CSOs, in Serbia and remains one of Serbia’s most loyal friends.
The SCS Program has been designed on the principle of building the strength of CSOs over the next three years. Priority will be given to those organisations which deal with the most sensitive issues in Serbia.
This year almost eighty organisations throughout Serbia have applied for assistance. After several rounds of deliberation, in consultation with experts whose valuable advice has helped us detect the greatest needs in the areas of justice, the environment and human rights, the Norwegian Embassy in Belgrade has decided to support fifteen organisations and their projects. By supporting these fifteen organisations through this program, the Embassy also supports their partner organisations which will play a vital role in project implementation.
